it worked. my spanish is not broken, it still works. it seems the guy in the airport could understand me & i could understand him. there we stood standing over a map as he gave me directions on how best to get to my friend's party.
the party was sweet with lots of homemade food, and drinks flowed well into the night...
next day i ventured off for a walk. a little quiet time. i roamed through the old city, popped in a small museum, as well as an exhibit space that had a nice exhibit on some of the works of dali.
while wandering around i passed this lovely tree flowering in what seemed like a kind of violet, but it seems it's magenta... hmmm all these fancy names for shades of pink, violet, lavender, purplish... all just spell lovely. and i was so happy to be taking my little steps through the streets of mallorca. what a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of a friend...
i'll tell next of our night time beach party that got rained out. i think i'll put it on the list of one of the best moments of my life...

I love reading your text... you write so beautifully about the little trip of yours and your friends. These are life's little pearls. Small treasures. Seems like you share the same appreciation for small tiny pebbles of 'happiness' that life regularly throws at us as I do. Dali and the Spanish Mediterranean climate. Can so well picture the fascination.
Your life is magical... I'm so happy I found your blog, so I can tag along.
And as to all the names for 'purple,' it reminds me... When I was a little girl I seemed to have a hard time describing 'purple,' when I saw it. At least, I remember being told that. So I'm never sure... If I see something as lavender, is it? And etc.
But actually, the colors we each see, are subjective, aren't they? No matter if I call a flower, lavender... I can't ever know the exact color, in which you perceive it... I guess. :-)

hi Susu, i like very much your expression about appreciating 'small tiny pebbles of happiness...' i do try, they say happiness is a decision. and i appreciate very much that you so often point the way...
Mari-Nanci i'm really pleased that you enjoy my blog, this is a wonderful compliment.
isn't it wonderful how we see and experience colours differently. i think it is a great metaphor for how we receive most of our experiences differently, depending on the person. it keeps it all so interesting...
so cute that you had a hard time describing purple. this is such a sweet story.
hello Lavinia, that tree is pretty isn't it? it was so striking. in the best way, i have been unable to get it out of my mind!
hola Lala, it was my first time in Mallorca as well. it really is a beautiful place. and it is nice to see that as time passes i can still speak spanish. i would be dissapointed to think that it had been lost. it does make things easier. que tengas un buen dia!
