hello again

san francisco is a city where people are never more abroad than when they are at home. ~benjamin f. taylor

i'm back from san fran! indeed. it is said san francisco is our most european city here in the states. it really is quite beautiful, i must say. sometimes i ask myself wouldn't it be nice to settle in a place that is not as busy as nyc... and i think it will be a question that i live with and love for a bit of time. san francisco is tempting. it has many things a city girl loves while at the same time not as hectic. though this is from a visitors point of view.

here standing one of san fran's many hills, the golden gate bridge is hiding in the midst of the fog...

it was a surprise, i'd heard about a gorgeous church on the campus of stanford, and here just outside are sculptures made from casts of rodin. the arts center at stanford university has the largest collection of rodin outside of paris... the gorgeous sunshine is the sweetest work of art as well.

trying to remember, is this lombard street, or is it a lovely corner on stanford university's campus... don't remember. being in california, the look of it, reminds me so much of the look of southern spain. not necessarily the architecture, but the bright blue sky, the warmness in the air, pretty colours and flowers all around...

as the time passes and i get settled in, i'll try and share some more insights about this special place...
'san francisco itself is art, above all literary art. every block is a short story, every hill a novel. every home a poem...' ~william saroyan
i look so forward to connecting with you all again. i'll be peeping in to see what you are up to.
bisous!

So good to see you back. It looks like you had a lovely time. Love the quotes you shared. I love the feel of SF. The water, the air, the hills, the food, the people, and all the great neighborhoods. It is a really lovely city. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

And, L'air, thanks so much for your very kind and sweet comment on my blog.

books are my weakness too. So much that when we renovated our house, we built a library just for me! Hey that's an idea for a post.

Lovely pictures. I'm glad you got into photo snapping. I can very well imagine you in the sunny San Francisco. But New York suits you well too - and it's closer to Europe;)

Can't wait to listen to your petites histoires about San Francisco, Audrey!

Thanks so much for your last comment. Your ideas are much appreciated !
Listen sweetie, I started your little pink cushion but am in rush all the time with translation and now the Xmas cards making. I'm going to be cheeky but wouldn't like a little pack of these pink cards you like with the cat and key etc.. instead ? (it can still be a little contribution to your new nest) If so, drop me a mail with your postal address !!
:-)
Bisous

Julianne, a library! how inspiring! i've been thinking of buying new bookshelves, now a library is a whole new level. Oo have fun! it really sounds like a wonderful experience!

hi Susu, it's as if you have read my mind. since i consider myself an europhile, i've thought of the practical stuff, so many good airline ticket fares in and out of new york to paris, london, madrid... hmmm, it is wonderful to ponder such things... i'm so glad you like my picture/s;)

Welcome back. I am glad you enjoyed your sojourn to sunny San Fransisco....I have to ask...like the song says...did you leave your heart there? :)

Such a beautiful shot of the sea and the Golden Bridge!

hi Lavinia... didn't leave my heart there, but i can see how it could be easy to fall in love with what seems like the easy goingness of the city...

Mary-Laure while there, there were mostly sunny days, which i love. but i was glad for this one foggy day just so i could see the famous san francisco fog. ...indeed the bridge kind of lost in the fog hovering over the sea is kind of special...

So glad that you enjoyed San Francisco! I hope our city treated you well.

And that photo of the statues at Stanford is great. I used to live very close to campus and liked to walk there at night.
