city life!

how was your winter?

the sun is high in the sky today. while out walking i noticed how much we all need a bit of sunshine and warm weather. today is beautiful! people are out and about smiling and enjoying the day. it could just be me, but i sense a bit of relief in the air. i'm thinking that we've been closed indoors and closed in on ourselves this past winter and it just feels good to sit in the sun. to be outside, maybe out of our heads, away from our jobs and responsibilities for a moment is refreshing.

april can be tricky, weather wise. it could rain at any moment. but rumour has it that the sunshine and warmth should be with us for a minute and it just looks like we all need it.

there is a relief from the cold wintry snowy days that are slowly becoming the recent past.

today i'll pack a 'little lunch' and have a picnic in central park.

i hope you and yours are well...

Oh my god, I was in NY enjoying your city life a year ago! Spring in the Big Apple is really nice and flowery. Pack me in your picnic: I want to relax in Central Park as well. Don't forget Prospect park. It's also beautiful.

We've had a few scattered days of sun inbetween freezing days of grey skies. I'm so ready to embrace spring and summer! The Breeders sang 'Summer is ready when you are' on their song Saints but I'm ready and summer doesn't seem to be getting any closer! Coming here has really made me appreciate blue skies so much, I guess even in a weather wacky place like Melbourne I really took it for granted.
Enjoy your New York sunshine! :)

This mirrors the scene in my city too, at lunchtime today. Bright warm sunshine brought everybody out.....and I had my first ice-cream cone of the year from the ice cream truck, Mr. Softee.

Ahhhh....finally....spring.....

Regards,
Lavinia

Hola Nuri, it was you who reminded me of how beautiful the flowers are here. when you were here it was good for me to see the city through new eyes... prospect park is waiting for your return...

bon jour Lala, indeed spring has arrived. i think we needed it so...
the picnic menu was really quite simple...

1. advocado
2. pineaple slices
3. tuna sandwiches
4. d'eau
5. une livre 'shakespeare's kitchen'
(thanks for asking:)

lady tigre i love that quote 'summer is ready when you are.' a bit more sunshine helps as well right? i always wonder, for example, if i could live in paris. i need the sun. i too can deeply appreciate blue skies. i hope you get some sun soon. we're having rain tomorrow, so i did try to take advantage today.

hi lavinia, thanks for popping in. so 'cool', you've had your first ice cream cone of the season. smart lady! makes me wonder what am i waiting for...

Hi there! Picnicing in the Central Park... I'd go for that. I last visited NY in 1992 and would gladly be back for some more. It should happen next year;)

Sunlight really does wonders. Here in Paris the spring has been exceptionally cold. But more light has already been a huge improvement!

Hi Susu, you were last here in 1992? when you come to visit you will find a new city! new york has changed sooo much. i grew up here and with all the changes i try to concentrate on all the positives, and there are plenty...
